Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

PrepWings (the "App") is a study-tracking and revision app for students preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. It is run by Ashish Poswal, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India ("we", "us"). Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act"), we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here. Contact us at nubero0923@gmail.com or support@prepwings.in.

2. What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, phone number, city and password. Your password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication in a protected form; we cannot see it.
• Exam profile: your target year, attempt number, daily study-hour goal and exam date.
• Study data you create: study sessions and hours, tasks and checklists, syllabus progress and revision ratings, books and chapters read, notes, NCERT highlights and reading progress, practice-test scores, mistake logs, and your settings, including reminder times.
• Photos you add: for example a photo of a question you got wrong or of your notes. The App asks for camera or photo access only when you use those features.
• A device identifier: a random code the App creates on your phone, used only to recognise phones you have already confirmed when you sign in. It is not your phone's hardware ID or advertising ID.
• Technical data: to run the service, our providers process your account identifier and your device's IP address.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, microphone, government ID numbers or payment card details. The App contains no advertising or analytics libraries and does not use an advertising ID.

3. Why we use it

• To create and secure your account, including verifying your email and, where we use it, confirming new phones.
• To store your progress and sync it between your phones and after a reinstall.
• To show your dashboards, statistics, revision schedule and reminders, and to build the PDFs you ask for.
• To fix problems, keep the service running and improve it.
• To reply when you contact us, and to meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your data, show advertising, or use your study data for advertising or profiling. You consent to this use when you create your account, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting your account (section 7).

4. Who else handles your data

Some study links open YouTube or other websites in your browser; those sites have their own privacy policies. We do not share your personal data with anyone else, except where the law or a court order requires it.

5. Data on your phone

The App saves your data on your phone first, so it works offline, and syncs it to our servers when you are online. Study reminders are scheduled on your phone itself; nothing about them is sent to us. Removing the App or clearing its data deletes the copy on that phone but not your account.

6. Security

Data travels over encrypted connections. Our database rules let each account read and write only its own data. Email verification is required to create an account, and we may ask for a code sent to your email when you sign in on a new phone. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

7. How long we keep it, and deleting it

• We keep your data for as long as your account exists.
• Delete your account yourself: in the App go to Profile, then Delete My Account, and enter your password. This permanently removes your profile, study data and photos from our servers, deletes your login, and clears the data on that phone. It cannot be undone.
• Can't open the App? Email nubero0923@gmail.com or support@prepwings.in from your registered address and we will delete your account within 30 days. Full instructions are on our account deletion page.
• Copies in routine cloud backups are overwritten in the normal course of operations.
• "Reset My Progress" in Profile erases your study progress but keeps your account.

8. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:

• get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
• correct or update your data (most of it you can edit in the App);
• have your data erased;
• withdraw your consent;
• nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to;
• have a complaint about your data heard and resolved.

Email nubero0923@gmail.com or support@prepwings.in to use any of these; we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

9. Age

PrepWings is meant for UPSC aspirants, who must be at least 21 to sit the examination. You must be 18 or older to create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the App. Using the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.

11. Grievance Officer
